Rev up recycling.
You probably already recycle basics like plastic, aluminum, and glass. But it's easy to recycle more stuff, more often. Those cereal boxes? Recyclable. Mac 'n' cheese box? Recyclable, too. And if you take the extra step to break down cardboard boxes and drip them at the recycling station, it keeps more stuff out of landfills. |

Become a "love-bug."
Love to garden? Then learn to love bugs. Certain ones are beneficial. Ladybugs, mealy bugs, lacewings and non-stinging wasps actually prey on other insects that destroy plants and trees. And they're way more garden-friendly than pest sprays. So be nice to these yucky little creatures. They're helping your garden grow. |

CONSERVATION SUCCESS STORY
Text Messaging: It's Saving Elephants |
| OMG. We all love texting. But who knew this everyday behavior could protect at-risk animals? With the support from the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund, a project in Kenya is using text messaging and GPS technology to alert local farmers of crop-raiding elephants nearby. When an elephant is near a virtual fence line, alarm signals are sent to mobile phones, alerting residents and authorities to take preventative action. This helps protect elephants, people, and valuable crops. |
